KabarJawa.com– Muslims will again perform Friday prayers on Friday, February 20 2026. The momentum this time has a different feel because it coincides with the first week of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
The reason is, this Friday prayer will coincide with the first week of the Ramadan fast. The beginning of Ramadan is often used to strengthen religious understanding, including deepening the jurisprudential aspects of fasting.
Therefore, the theme of fasting month jurisprudence is considered relevant to be raised in the first Friday sermon in the holy month of Ramadan.
And for those of you who happen to be tasked with delivering it, according to the official website of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), here is the text of the sermon that you can use as a reference.
Text of the Friday Sermon for the First Week of Ramadan Fasting 1447 H / 2026
First Sermon
Praise be to God, the King and Judge, and may blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, the master of the sons of Adnan, and upon his family, companions, and followers throughout time, and I bear witness that There is no god but God alone, with no partner, to Him who is above humanity, direction, time, and place, and I bear witness that our master Muhammad His servant and Messenger, whose creation was the Qur’an,
As for what follows, servants of the Most Gracious, I advise you and myself to fear the gracious God, who says in His Book the Qur’an: The month of Ramadan in which was revealed. The Qur’an is a guidance for the people and clear guidance and criterion. So whoever of you witnesses the month, let him fast it, and whoever is If you are sick or on a journey, then a number of other days. God desires ease for you and does not desire hardship for you, and that you may complete the number. And that you may glorify Allah for what He has guided you, and that you may give thanks.
Ma’asyiral Muslimin rahimakumullah…
Taqwa is the best provision for achieving eternal happiness in the afterlife. Therefore, the preacher begins this short sermon with a testament to piety.
Let us all always increase our piety to Allah subhanahu wata’ala by fulfilling all obligations and abandoning all prohibitions.
Attendees of the Friday prayer congregation, Rahimakumullah,
The obligatory law of Ramadan fasting includes ma’lum min ad-din bi adh-dharurah, which means that the law has been equally known by scholars and laymen from among Muslims.
The obligation to fast in Ramadan has been established by the evidence of the Qur’an, hadith and consensus. Allah Ta’ala says:
So whoever of you witnesses the month, let him fast it.
Meaning: “Therefore, whoever among you finds that month, then fast” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 185)
The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
Islam is built on five things: the testimony that there is no god but God, that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, and the establishment of prayer.
Paying zakat, performing Hajj to the House, and fasting Ramadan (Narrated by Al-Bukhari)
Meaning: “Islam is built on five things: Testifying that nothing has the right to be worshiped except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, performing prayer, paying zakat, Hajj to the House and fasting Ramadan” (HR al-Bukhari)
Therefore, whoever denies the obligation to fast during Ramadan, then he has denied religion and separated himself from this noble religion, unless he has just converted to Islam or is like someone who grew up living in an area far from the Muslims and he has never heard of the law regarding the obligation to fast Ramadan.
A person whom Allah has met with the month of Ramadan and made it easy for him to fast in Ramadan, should praise Allah and thank Him for this blessing. Because fasting is a great obedience and obligation.
Ma’asyiral Muslimin rahimakumullah…
Because a Muslim cannot do something until he knows what Allah has permitted and forbidden from him, in this short sermon, the preacher will convey several important things regarding the laws of fasting.
This is so that each of us knows what is needed regarding the knowledge of this noble worship.
Attendees of the Friday prayer congregation, Rahimakumullah…
Fasting Ramadan is obligatory for every Muslim who is of legal age (of puberty and reason). It is not valid for women who are menstruating and postpartum, and it is obligatory for both mengqadla’.
It is permissible for a traveler not to fast in Ramadan under certain conditions even if it is not difficult for him to fast.
It is also permissible not to fast for a sick person who has hope of recovery but he feels the weight of fasting with an unbearable feeling of heaviness, and it is obligatory for him to perform qadla’.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women who do not fast because they are worried about their fetus; If you are worried about the abortion of the fetus or worried that if you fast, your milk will decrease, thereby endangering your baby, then both are required to make qadla’ and pay fidyah according to the Shafi’i madhhab.
Meanwhile, in the Hanafi madzhab, fidyah is not required for both of them. However, if both of them are worried about their own condition, not the condition of the fetus or baby, then qadla’ is only required.
Meanwhile, for someone who is unable to fast due to old age or a chronic illness with no hope of recovery, then fidyah is obligatory for him.
Fidyah is the size of one mudd, which is one medium-sized palm cover of the local staple food.
In the Hanafi madhhab, an elderly person who is unable to fast is allowed to be given fidyah in the form of a nominal amount of money equivalent to a filling lunch and dinner for every day he breaks his fast.
In the Hanafi madzhab, it is legal if the fidyah is paid at the beginning of the month of Ramadan for the next month, or the payment ends at the end of the month for the month that has passed.
Ladies and gentlemen, the kind of thing that many people do nowadays is in accordance with this opinion. Differences of opinion among ulama are broad and lenient for Muslims.
Dear guests,
Fasting has two pillars. First, intention. The place is the heart. Therefore it is not required to be said orally.
Intentions are required on every day of the month of Ramadan because each day is a separate act of worship, just like two prayers that are separated and punctuated with greetings. In obligatory fasting, tabyit and ta’yin are required in the intention.
Tabyit is setting intentions at night, namely the time between maghib and dawn. Meanwhile, ta’yin is determining whether the fast being carried out is Ramadan, nadzar or kaffarah fasting, for example.
Whoever does not intend to fast during Ramadan at night until the time of the dawn prayer, then he must not eat or drink and must refrain from all things that invalidate the fast until the time of Maghrib, and it is obligatory for him to perform Qadla. This is in the Shafi’i school.
Meanwhile, in the Hanafi madhhab, for people who do not intend to fast during Ramadan at night, it is legal for them to intend to do so after dawn and before midday as long as they have not done things that break the fast, such as eating and drinking.
And in the Maliki madhhab, the intention of fasting Ramadan is enough to be done on the first night of Ramadan for an entire month.
The second pillar is to refrain from all things that invalidate the fast from sunrise to sunset.
Among the things that invalidate the fast is anything that enters the body cavity through an open hole.
The holes in the body that are categorized as open are the nose, mouth, qubul, anus and ears. Eyes not included. Therefore, it does not break the fast of someone who puts eye drops in his eyes.
Likewise, someone who sleeps all day is not invalid. The fast does not break for someone who eats or drinks while forgetting and someone who injects medicine into their body through an open hole, such as an injection in a muscle or skin vein.
Meanwhile, inserting medicine through the genital or anal opening breaks the fast.
Breaking the fast of someone who vomits on purpose, that is, someone who wants to vomit what is in their stomach by inserting their finger or a chicken feather near their throat.
As for someone who vomits accidentally, his fast is not broken provided he does not swallow back his saliva mixed with vomit.
The fast of someone who swallows pure saliva (not mixed with anything) does not break the fast as long as the saliva is still in the mouth.
Whereas if the spit is mixed with blood or mixed with something that is put in the mouth, then swallowed, then that invalidates the fast.
Breaking the fast is also someone who deliberately swallows back phlegm that has passed makhrajح, meaning it has reached the mouth. However, if it has not passed the makhraj, then swallows it again, then it does not break the fast.
Among the things that invalidate fasting is riddah. Riddah is breaking faith with words, actions or beliefs.
Therefore, whoever does one of the types of riddah: speech, action or belief, then he has left Islam, all his good deeds have disappeared and his fast has been invalidated. Riddah is like cursing Allah, cursing Islam, cursing one of the angels or prophets.
The same goes for abusing the teachings of God, such as prayer, fasting, zakat and hajj. The same goes for denying something that has been fixed in the Shari’a.
Whoever does riddah, then he has left the religion, his fast is void, it is obligatory for him to return to Islam with two sentences of shahadah, to refrain from things that invalidate the fast until Maghrib if it is during the day of Ramadan, and it is obligatory for him to break his fast directly on the second day of the month of Syawal.
Finally, the preacher advises all of us to complete the obligatory religious studies related to fasting from a trusted and conscientious teacher so that our fasting is truly based on knowledge and in accordance with the Shari’a guidelines.
Let not one of us be among those mentioned by the Prophet, peace be upon him, in the following hadith:
There may be a fasting person who has nothing to gain from his fasting except hunger, and there may be a fasting person who has nothing to gain from his fasting except staying up late (Narrated by Al-Nasa’i and others)
The meaning: “How many people who fast, he does not get anything from his fasting except hunger, and how many people do qiyam al-lail, he does not get anything except staying awake” (HR. An-Nasa’ai and others)
Attendees blessed by God…
That’s a short sermon on this blessed day. May it be useful and bring blessings for all of us. Amen.
I say this and ask forgiveness from God for me and for you, so ask forgiveness from Him, for He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
Second Sermon
Praise be to God, that is enough, and I send my prayers and greetings to our master Muhammad, the Chosen One, and to his family and companions, people of loyalty. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that our Master Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.
As for what follows, O Muslims, I advise you and myself to fear God, the Most High, the Great, and know that God has commanded you with a great matter. He commanded you to send blessings and peace upon His Noble Prophet, and said: Indeed, God and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet, O you who Believers, bless him and grant him peace. O God, bless our master Muhammad and the family of our master Muhammad as you prayed upon our master Abraham and the The family of our master Abraham, and bless our master Muhammad and the family of our master Muhammad, as You blessed our master Abraham and the family of our master Abraham, in Knowing that you are Praiseworthy and Glorious.
O God, forgive the Muslim men and women, the male and female believers, the living and the dead. O God, protect us from the affliction and the cost. And the epidemic, and indecency, and the abomination, and transgression, and various swords, and adversity, and tribulations, both apparent and hidden, from our country. This in particular and from Muslim countries in general. Indeed, You are capable of all things.
Servants of God, God commands justice and good deeds and bestows favor upon the near of kin and forbids indecency. And the denier and the transgressor admonish you, so that you may remember the night: So remember God Almighty, and He will remember you, and the remembrance of God is greater.
So, that’s the Friday sermon script that you can use as a reference to deliver in the first week or beginning of the month of Ramadan 1447 H / 2026. ***
